Last Chance for Cheap Granola Bars and Fruit Snacks

The extra catalina at Albertsons ends tomorrow. So if you're not a Sunday shopper, today is the last day to take advantage of the extra savings on Natures Valley Granola Bars and Betty Crocker fruit snacks.

Here is how my transaction the other day played out:
5 boxes of Betty Crocker "Fruit Stickerz" snacks for $2 a piece
5 boxes of Natures Valley Granola Bars for $2.50 a piece
Used 5 of these coupons: Betty Crocker Fruit Roll-Ups Fruit Stickerz Fruit Flavored Snacks, any flavor box .50/1 (3-28-09) SS-2/1
and 5 of these coupons: Nature Valley Granola Bars, any flavor/variety box .50/1 (2-28-09) GeneralMillsSS-1/4

for a total of: $22.50 minus -$5.00 coupons

I then received a $10 "catalina" for buying 10 General Mills items, a $3.50 "catalina" for buying 5 fruit snacks, and a $3.50 "catalina" for buying 5 Granola bars.
That comes out to a grand total of $.50 for the 10 items!!!

(I realize that catalinas are not instant savings, but you use them to pay for your next transaction).

Hot items at Albertsons 2/18-2/24

Another General Mills Sale...are you noticing how frequently they come around? After you coupon for awhile and build your stockpile you can really pick which items are worth getting and which you can hold off on. Anyway...

This weeks deal goes like this: You buy 10 items and you get a $10 "catalina" to use on your next shopping order. You only buy 10 items at a time (to maximize your savings), then according to your store's policy you can get 10 more items and use the catalina that printed up previously to pay for this transaction.

Now, don't get scared but if you buy 5 or more fruit snacks in 1 transaction you will get ANOTHER catalina for $3.50.

and if you buy 5 or more Nature's Valley Granola bars you will get ANOTHER $3.50 catalina

So, I would suggest buying:
5- BC fruit snacks, and use 2 of these coupons: Betty Crocker Fruit Shapes, Fruit by the Foot, Fruit Gushers, Fruit Roll-Ups or Fruit Roll-Ups Fruit Stickerz Fruit Flavored Snacks, any boxes .50/2 (4-4-09) GeneralMillsSS-2/8
and
5- Natures Valley granola bars, and use 5 of these coupons: Nature Valley Granola Bars, any flavor/variety box .50/1 (2-28-09) GeneralMillsSS-1/4

For an out of pocket cost of: $19 You will then get a $10 catalina and 2 $3.50 catalinas. When you take the catalinas into affect your cost for the 10 items is $2- or $.20 a piece.

There are a ton of hot offers. Check out PYP shopping link for hot deals and links to printable coupons.

Price Sheet

At the end of January I was anxious to see how much I had spent on groceries. I mentioned before that I keep a price sheet with all my purchases detailed. Here is part of my January Price Sheet

You see that I I am fairly detailed on my list (date, store, description, etc). I added the category recently because it allowed me to sort my items better. (I could see how much I'd spent on meat, milk, etc.)

On my spreadsheet, when I click on the top of the "spent" column, it totals it for me, allowing me to see what I have spent overall. The sad truth, is that I spent WAY too much in January. I noticed I bought some good stuff, but seeing the totals has sobered me up a bit. (I'm too embarrassed to show you, I'd lose all credibility). Anyway, hopefully that gives you an example of what your spreadsheet can look like.

Good Deals this week 2/4-2/10

I meant to write more good deals last week, but never got around to it. Sorry about that.

Albertsons:
I don't see any good stock up prices this week. I'm not sure I'll even hit the store this week. Especially since I'm feeling guilty about how much I spent last month there.

I think you'll get your best deals combining the "double coupons" found on the front of the ad with your manufacturer's coupons.

They say: "Maximum value $1.00. Coupons valued at $1.01 or higher are not eligible for doubling. Offer does not apply to in-store, competitor, alcohol, tobacco, or FREE coupons. Total coupon redemption cannot exceed price of item. No cash refund. One double coupon per manufacturer's coupon. Four double coupons per family per shopping trip. Photocopies of this coupon are not accepted. Misredemption constitutes fraud."

So, to use these hand your cashier your manufacturer's coupon, let's say a $1.00 one, then give them the "double coupon" from the ad. You will save $2.00 on the item. There is a limit of 4 "double coupons" per shopping trip, but you could gather up a bunch of ads from your friends and neighbors and potentially save big. That is if you break up your double coupon usage into different shopping trips, which would take a bit of time.
