Mmm...Raspberry Jam

The only thing better than homemade strawberry jam is raspberry jam, of course.

Last week I bought a flat of raspberries from Reams. I love raspberries. Why oh why do they have to be so expensive? Anyway, a flat of twelve 6 oz containers was $9.99. I made two batches of freezer jam and the kids and I ate the rest.

10- 6 oz cartons of raspberries= $8.30
2 pkgs of pectin= $2.90
3 cups of Sugar= $.48
30 minutes of my time that would have been wasted otherwise= $0
Total $11.68 for 9 cups of Jam ($1.30 a cup)

Buy Low Market

I have been under utilizing this grocery store. It is a little out of the way for me, but I was in Provo for a Dr. appointment and we were in serious need of produce so I carted the kids there. I got a great deal on peaches, red potatoes, carrots, celery, bulk pinto beans, ground beef ($.78 a pound!!) and chicken thighs.

Anyway, if you are in the Provo area go there. Wednesdays they have additional produce sales, and on Friday they have additional meat sales. On-line AD

May Spending Report

I'm sad to say that I spent a lot of money on groceries in May. My excuses are: Memorial Day, Cabin trip, and soda pop. It also could have been Albertsons double coupon promotions that got me into their stores more often. You can see my price list for this month HERE.

My Grand Total was $423.53, but does not take into account the $28 of additional savings I got at the register (3 coupons for $5 off a $30 purchase, 1 coupon for $8 off a $70 purchase, and 1 coupon for $5 off a $60 purchase).

Anyway, the good news is that I got the following for screaming deals:
5 pkgs Scotts scratchy T.P.= $.15 each
2 Tostitos Salsas= FREE
5 boxes Cereal= FREE
1 Right Guard deodorant= FREE
1 Toothpaste= FREE
2 Soft scrub cleaner= FREE
6 Kraft BBQ sauce= FREE
4 Cream Cheese= FREE
1 Bayer pkg= FREE
3 Breyers ice cream= $1.00 each
7 candy bars= FREE
4 Big bags of charcoal= $2.49 each
10 lbs boneless pork chops= $3.00 total
5 12pks of diet dr pepper= $.60 each
2 12 pks 7 up= $.60 each
4 pkg Huggies diapers = $3.75 each
